With his extensive business development and finance background, Kevin Abessi is a rare breed in the legal industry, with a serious passion for educating and counseling others when he's not busy satisfying his own thirst for knowledge and entrepreneurship. As an attorney, Mr. Abessi chose to focus on family law, estate planning, and business law because it allows him to inject some of his "non-legal" abilities into the practice of law. Not many consider all three aforementioned areas to be numbers-driven to any material degree, but formulas abound in valuing assets in a divorce or child support matter, as well as with respect to asset distribution in a large estate plan or business sale. Kevin enjoys merging his financial risk manager or investment analyst credentials with his legal work to fulfill client needs while minimizing his need for pricey valuation firms that can be the source of inflated fees in a contentious family or business matter.
Along with his network and third-party partners, Mr. Abessi brings a modern and efficient approach to the practice of law, and one that utilizes financial prudence, without the enormous overhead costs of large firms, which often find themselves in dire straits because they hold little cash and thus leave themselves exposed during low-growth periods like the current one. Consequently, with its business model, Abessi Law is able to provide capable legal counsel at lower fees.
Mr. Abessi also believes in a compassionate and value-added approach to law; if he concludes a client task without doing at least a little more than the minimum that the client agreement dictates, than he believes that he did not do enough. He is all but obsessed with customer service, whether it is he who is providing the service to another, or vice versa. Listen to others, limit your interruptions, follow through on your promises, meet your deadlines, positively reinforce society through decent acts; these were values instilled in him at a young age, developed through his professional years, and remain a part of his nature to this day.
